Man from St. Johnsbury arrested for assault, burglary

SF. JOHNSBURY – A local man is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into an apartment and assaulting two people early Tuesday morning.

Lawrence Kennard, 30, of St. Johnsbury, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of burglary, according to the St. Johnsbury.

Police say Kennard forced his way into an apartment at 110 Maple St. around 12:05 a.m. Tuesday.

He then allegedly assaulted the tenant of the apartment and a neighbor who came to help.

Investigators determined the attack stemmed from a recent dispute over $50, police said.

Kennard was taken into custody without incident and transported to the St. Louis Police Department. Johnsbury for processing.

He was later booked into the Northeast Regional Correctional Center and is being held without bail.

He is scheduled to appear in Caledonia County Court on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.
