Hanceville man sentenced to 25 years in prison for child abuse

A Hanceville man was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison for child abuse.

Cullman County District Attorney Champ Crocker said Aaron Anthony Stites was convicted of “Domestic Violence in the First Degree” for physically abusing a child in 2020.

During the investigation, authorities said evidence showed the child had been shaken, causing seizures and brain trauma.

“As Sheriff Gentry said after this arrest, we make it a priority to take care of those who cannot fight for themselves. This was a senseless, uncivilized crime, but justice was served,” Crocker said.
