‘Tripadvisor for bootleggers’ car wash owners plead guilty

‘Tripadvisor for bootleggers’ car wash owners plead guilty

It has been labeled the ‘Tripadvisor for human traffickers’.

Migrants from the Middle East heading to Europe assess their journeys in videos filmed in trucks, boats and even planes.

“How was the route, guys?” A man asks in one clip, as someone behind the truck gives a thumbs up.

Smugglers brought around 100 illegal migrants into Europe every week over a two-year period.

The pair – based in a car wash in the south Wales town of Caerphilly – offered migrants bronze, silver, gold and platinum packages – depending on risk.

A platinum package can get you a flight, while silver can get you a “comfortable ride” in the back of a truck.

Investigators found the video reviews on the phones of the smugglers themselves, apparently made as promotional material.

Now two men, Dilshad Shamo and Ali Khdir, have pleaded guilty to human trafficking midway through their trials.
