Jagan Mohan Reddy made Andhra an Adani State: YS Sharmila

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President YS Sharmila has slammed former Andhra Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, questioning him for allegedly accepting bribes in contracts he entered into with the Adani group during his tenure and accusing him of giving Andhra as a blank check to Adani. .

During a press conference on Friday, the APCC president accused Reddy of making Andhra state an “Adani state”.

This came after the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York on Thursday filed criminal charges against Gautam Adani and other executives, linking them to an alleged bribery scheme.

According to the SEC’s allegations, the bribery scheme was allegedly orchestrated to allow the two renewable energy companies to capitalize on a multi-billion dollar solar project the companies were awarded by the Indian government.

Sharmila alleged that YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Jagan Mohan Reddy also got a share of the deal.

“Yesterday, the US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission made some allegations against Gautam Adani & Co. Securities Exchange Commission is like SEBI in our country. They say Gautam Adani and his team bribed high-ranking officials who could be CMs of various states, and Jagan got it,” she said.

“Gautam Adani paid or promised an incentive to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh to enter into a power supply agreement worth USD 200 million… A case has been registered and an arrest warrant has been issued against to Gautam Adani on this issue,” Sharmila said.

“Adani insulted the country and Jagan Mohan Reddy insulted Andhra Pradesh… Jagan got 1750 crores in this power deal. On the other hand, 17,000 crores are given to people through DISCOMS. It may not be related, but it is an existing fact,” she added.

“How much bribe did Jagan get in this deal? Jagan Mohan Reddy should answer. How many such projects did Jagan Mohan Reddy give to Adani? How much bribe did Jagan Mohan Reddy get in each of these deals? Jagan Mohan Reddy gave Andhra state like a blank check for Adani. He made Andhra state an Adani state,” she asserted.

Sharmila also said that the Congress party demanded that the current Andhra Chief Minister Chandrabau Naidu cancel the power deal and demanded that Adani be blacklisted.

“Congress party is demanding from Chandrababu Naidu that this electricity deal should be cancelled. Adani should be blacklisted. All transactions that Adani and Jagan have done should be investigated and all should be reviewed. .. Congress is also demanding a joint Parliament Commission into Adani’s corruption,” Sharmila said.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari slammed the Congress party and its allies following the recent charges by the US SEC against the Adani Group, alleging that during the transactions, power distribution companies in Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh signed Power Sale Agreements (PSA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), stating that “all individuals related to these the corruption accused are associated with the Congress party and none are from the BJP”.

“Recent allegations by the US SEC against the Adani Group have raised serious questions. The SEC alleges that there were incidents of bribery involving former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and other officials. They claim that between July 2021 and February 2022, power distribution companies in Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh signed Power Sale Agreements (PSAs) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), specifically , Andhra Pradesh has committed to buy 7 gigawatts of solar power – the largest such commitment from the BJD government in Odisha to Tamil Nadu, the YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh. This situation poses a significant question for Rahul Gandhi as all the people linked to these corruption charges are associated with the Congress party and none of them are from the BJP. Let’s not forget ADANI’s closeness to Robert Wadra, how can BJP hold him accountable? Purandeswari said on X.

The Adani Group has denied allegations made by the US Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission against Adani Green Energy executives.
