Murfreesboro man charged in crash that killed Lebanon woman

LEBANON, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Lebanon Police Department is charging a Murfreesboro man in the death of a woman following a fatal crash in September.

LPD reports that Terry Elmore, 41, is facing an aggravated vehicular homicide charge for his alleged involvement in the death of Juanita Birdsong of Lebanon.

On the night of September 24th, an officer patrolling West Main Street came upon a multi-vehicle accident in front of Wilson Bank & Trust. Police said additional units were immediately requested to assist with work at the scene.

At the time of the crash, two of the drivers were seriously injured, identified by LPD as Birdsong and Elmore. Birdsong was pronounced dead at the scene, while Elmore was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

“Due to the severity of the crash, our traffic unit was called out to investigate the crash,” LPD said.

As a result of the investigation, evidence led officers to charge Elmore with aggravated vehicular homicide in Birdsong’s death. He was arrested by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and later booked into the Wilson County Jail on $400,000 bail.
