Troops kill notorious terrorist leader, 114 others and rescue 138 hostages in week

Defense Headquarters (DHQ) says troops have killed a named notorious terrorist commander Munzur Ya Audu in the east and another 114 through well-executed operations across the country.

Director of Defense Media Operations, major general Edward Bubahe made this known while briefing newsmen on the military operations on Thursday in Abuja.

Buba said serious efforts have been made to dismantle the capabilities as well as destroy the networks of terrorist groups. He added that the troops also actively targeted terrorist logistics bases and other structures that had an affiliation with terrorist groups.

“During the week under review, troops neutralized 115, arrested 238 and rescued 138 kidnapped hostages.

“In addition, troops recovered 145 assorted weapons and 3,825 rounds of ammunition, including one GPMG, two PKT guns, 68 AK47 rifles, two AK56 rifles and 24 manufactured rifles.

“Also recovered were 28 Danish pistols, one manufactured revolver pistol, six locally manufactured pistols, one pistol, eight pump action pistols, one hand grenade, four manufactured hand grenades, one RPG bomb and three explosives.

“Others are 2,093 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 246 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 317 rounds of 7.62mm GPMG/PKM, 129 live rounds, 28 rifle rounds, 500 empty MG762mm and 14mm ammunition. ,” he said.

In the northeast, Buba said Operation Hadin Kai troops neutralized 61 terrorists, detained 34 suspects and rescued 32 kidnapped hostages during the week.

In the north of the center, he said troops of operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke neutralized 18 violent extremists, apprehended 48 people and rescued 48 kidnapped hostages.

In the northwest, he said troops of the Hadarin Daji operation neutralized 28 terrorists, detained 77 people and rescued 57 kidnapped hostages.

Buba said the Air Component has airstrike on the terrorists who are hibernating at the notorious Sadiku and Sola terrorist homes in Safana and Batsari areas of Katsina State.

“The air component acquired and engaged with missiles and bombs. Battle Damage Assessment showed that several terrorists were taken out and their structures were destroyed.

“Similarly, on November 11 and November 13, the air component carried out air interdiction on terrorist enclaves in Shinkafi and Zurmi LGA of Zamfara, killing several terrorists and destroying their logistics.” he added.

In the southeast, Buba said UDO KA operation troops neutralized six terrorists, detained 13 violent extremists and rescued a kidnapped hostage during the week.
