PDSO calls for the prohibition of the root causes of sexual violence

Visakhapatnam: The Progressive Democratic Students Organization (PDSO) protested at the GVMC Gandhi statue, demanding justice for a law student gang-raped in Madhurawada. The protesters marched towards Rama Talkies Road via RTC complex and Telugu Talli flyover.

State Treasurer L. Bhanu condemned the killing, pointing to the failure to address root causes such as alcohol, drugs and pornography that fuel sexual violence. District Secretary V. Lakshmi cited data from the National Crime Records Bureau showing 86 daily cases of rape nationwide, many unreported.

The PDSO called for a ban on these influences and called for stricter laws to prevent such incidents, stressing that enforcement is insufficient.
