Washington Chiefs coach Dan Quinn pleased with progress, far from satisfied with it

Washington Chiefs coach Dan Quinn pleased with progress, far from satisfied with it

The Commanders from Washington they’re off to an impressive 5-2 start through the first seven weeks of the season, surpassing most expectations near the midpoint of the schedule and already two wins away from surpassing the 6.5-win preseason projection that many oddsmakers set for the team.

As good as they’ve been, though, the Commanders still have room to grow. This fact is equally exciting for fans of the franchise and terrifying for opponents.

Just last week, there were those who discussed whether this Washington team – after seven weeks – could beat the same Tampa Bay Buccaneers team it lost to in Week 1. It’s a satisfying thought for supporters and I follow the team. But it’s not something that will please head coach Dan Quinn as he focuses on keeping his team on a progressive path.

“I think we’re making progress,” Quinn said in Wednesday’s news conference. “But we’re not there yet.”

Quinn pointed out that the Chiefs have laid a solid foundation, but the team needs to take its game to the next level.

He pointed to improvement in key areas such as physicality and communication at the line of scrimmage and asked: “What about our physicality? There is another level. What about line communication? There is another level,” emphasizing the need for improved performance both on the field and in communication between players.

He also praised the team’s progress in certain aspects of the game, noting, “I like it in the run game from what I’ve seen. I like the special teams side of things.”

Quinn made it clear that this list in Washington needs to take advantage of this momentum without delay, saying: “Don’t wait. go Do it now. He doesn’t have to wait.

Quinn’s comments shed light on the commanders their quick start and team-building process, while challenging them to elevate their physicality and communication as they strive to cement their identity on the pitch. His team will have a chance to do just that as they host the Chicago Bears on Sunday at 4:25 pm ET on FOX.
