Lemoore woman in critical condition after brutal domestic violence attack, pleads for help

A Lemoore woman is surrounded by loved ones now after family members say she survived a brutal domestic violence attack that nearly killed her.

The abuser? They say he was her boyfriend.

FOX26 is told she was put in a medically induced coma because of how badly she was beaten.

Luckily, they say he was able to escape and get help from neighbors who called 9-1-1.

“It was a crime scene. It was reported as such… and if you’ve ever seen a mob movie, that’s exactly what it looked like. I mean, literally blood everywhere. I mean, it was scattered on the curtains. from the floor,” said Amanda Krick, one of the victim’s cousins.

They described what happened to her as being in a torture chamber.

I’m sharing with FOX26 the traumatic moments that unfolded at the home of Desiree Johnson, 40, of Lemoore.

It is said to be where Desiree’s ex-boyfriend nearly beat her to death on November 13.

“She said it took about an hour,” said Teresa Diaz, Desiree’s mother.

By the time it is said, she escaped and called for help and was rushed to hospital.

“They had to helicopter her to Fresno because she was unstable,” Teresa said.

Teresa says she was barely conscious.

She says Desiree’s head was cracked from being hit with a frying pan and seeing what her daughter’s attacker did to her was almost more than she could bear.

According to Tereza, she had injuries on her body and face and had bite marks.

There was also internal damage that he could not see.

He was coughing up blood, there was trauma to his liver and fluid between his brain and skull.

They weren’t sure if he would make it or not, Teresa said.

But, she did.

Torture, pain and suffering caused by someone she loved and thought loved her.

The family identified the ex-boyfriend as 41-year-old Octavio Amador Tavira.

“They were very much in love at first. I was just happy that she was. She seemed very happy and they were together all the time,” Kirk said.

“They were together a little over a year and we all loved him. I thought he was really sweet, a really good guy. Like, I thought I treated her really well,” Teresa said.

Tavira was arrested on November 15 and now faces felony charges of torture, bodily harm to his wife, threats of violence and attempted murder.

The family now hopes the community can help Desiree make a fresh start and wash away the memories and stains of what happened to her that day.

The family also tells FOX26 that she will not be returning to her previous job.

That’s where she and Tavira met.

Besides, one of his family members is one of her bosses there.

They say they wouldn’t feel comfortable returning to that environment after everything that happened.

A GoFundMe the fundraiser was created to help Desiree cope.
