Florida mother charged after allegedly drowning teenage daughter in bathtub

A Florida mother has been arrested and charged in the death of her 14-year-old daughter after witnesses say she held the girl’s head under water in a bathtub until she became unresponsive, according to the Osceola Sheriff’s Office.

Kelsey Glover, 35, was charged aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery. However, additional charges are pending upon completion of the girl’s autopsy.

Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez said at a news conference that deputies were called to a home early Wednesday morning after receiving calls about an armed disturbance. When officers arrived at the scene, Lopez said the disturbance was still taking place.

Witnesses told deputies they saw Glover holding her daughter’s head underwater and that the teenager was still unresponsive in an upstairs bathroom.

“They tried to stop her but were unsuccessful. Eventually Ms. Glover began attacking and chasing these witnesses around the house with a hammer,” Lopez said.

The girl, Giselle Glover, was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

“What happened to her is unimaginable and we are determined to get justice for Giselle,” Lopez said.

A homicide investigation is ongoing and a medical examiner will determine the official cause of death.
