Allahabad High Court orders CBI to probe former DRT chairman’s conduct

The allegations against the former DRT officer include that he issued an order on September 18 without holding any proper hearing on the said day. Later, just before his retirement on September 27 this year, he is said to have issued a rectification clarifying that the September 18 order is to be read as an order passed on September 24.

Bank of Baroda filed a petition in the High Court highlighting this discrepancy. The counsel for the bank submitted that the DRT case under discussion was not included for passing the orders on September 24. As such, no order could have been passed on the said date, the High Court was told.

Therefore, the bank argued that the original order of September 18 was not served bona fide mode and that the rectification was issued only to cover the irregularities.
