Caught on camera: Man pulls gun on 12-year-old child after altercation with son at Gurugram Society

The video of a liquor businessman pulling a gun on a minor boy in a Gurugram society was captured by CCTV.

The father of one of the two children fired a gun at the other child in a popular housing society in Gurugram after an altercation between the two during a football match turned violent. However, the man’s wife rushed to the scene and pushed him away, avoiding possible injury, officials said.

The accused has been identified as Prateek Sachdeva, a liquor businessman, who was arrested after the child’s family lodged a complaint. He was later released on bail.

The entire incident on Tuesday was caught on the CCTV of Lagoon Apartment located in DLF Phase 3 of the city.

What did the child’s family claim?

The minor’s father, Karan Lohia, claimed in his complaint that his 12-year-old son was playing with the accused’s son when they got into an altercation. Shortly after this, Sachdeva’s son rushed back into the house and complained of the battle. Sachdeva returned to the scene with a gun and pointed it at the other child.

CCTV footage showed his wife rushing to push Sachdeva, thereby preventing a major accident.

Lohia further claimed that his wife saw the entire incident unfold before her eyes from the balcony of their sixth floor flat and shouted at Sachdeva not to hurt her son. He said his son was traumatized by the incident and is now reluctant and scared to visit the park.

Sachdeva was subsequently detained under the Arms Act and the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, however, he was later granted bail.

“We arrested the accused businessman and seized his licensed revolver. He was released on bail after joining the investigation. An investigation is underway,” officials said.
