Linda McMahon, accused of allowing a child predator on trial

A recent lawsuit alleges of Donald Trump nominated for Secretary of Education, Linda McMahonof “allowing child sexual abuse” in the early 1980s in WWE.

She is accused, along with her estranged husband Vince McMahonto knowingly allow the employee Melvin Phillips Jr. to sexually exploit children while serving in WWE as a frontline announcer. The suit also blames WWE and TKO Group Holdings, respectively CNN.

During his time at WWE, McMahon served as CEO and led the company’s transition from an entertainment company to a publicly traded media corporation. She resigned from WWE in 2009 to run for the US Senate.

McMahon, who currently co-chairs Trump’s transition team, previously served in Trump’s first White House, where he oversaw the Small Business Administration.

The lawsuit was filed in a Maryland court in October on behalf of five unnamed victims who say they were between the ages of 13 and 15 when Phillips abused them.

“Phillips lured and manipulated the boys with promises of meeting famous wrestlers and attending highly popular wrestling shows, experiences that were otherwise unattainable for these children,” the lawsuit alleges, according to CNN. “(The McMahons, WWE and TKO Holdings) allowed Phillips and others to engage in and promote WWE’s pervasive culture of sexual abuse.”

The lawsuit alleges that Phillips recruited children to work as “ring boys” responsible for helping him take down and set up rings at wrestling events. However, the filing alleges that Phillips used the position to sexually exploit children and even claims that the WWE employee did so in front of company executives and wrestlers in the locker room.

McMahon’s lawyer, Laura Brevettisaid the allegations were untrue.

“This civil lawsuit based on allegations that are over thirty years old is full of lies, exaggerations and misrepresentations about Linda McMahon,” Brevetti said in a statement to CNN. “Miss. McMahon will vigorously defend himself against this baseless lawsuit and will undoubtedly succeed in the end.”
