Driver arrested after box truck chase in Panola County

BECKVILLE, Texas (KLTV) – A suspect was arrested after a box truck was chased in Panola County Thursday morning.

According to the Panola County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch was alerted to the pursuit around 7:19 a.m. by Rusk County officials. The truck was being pursued by Tatum police on Highway 149 in Panola County, they said, and deputies responded with P.C. 2 and 3 DPS police and troopers.

Around 7:25 a.m., a trooper used a PIT maneuver to disable the truck just before a Beckville intersection, preventing it from entering a nearby school zone.

“Proud of Officer Brack LaGrone for stopping this driver before he got to the Beckville school zone. And we are grateful for his safety in such a dangerous situation,” said Panola County Judge Rodger McLane.

The driver was arrested and the release said they will be charged with evading arrest, assault on a peace officer and additional Tatum Police Department charges. Their identity has not yet been revealed.
