Young Wagner pleads guilty to manslaughter

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – Attorney General Jackley announces that a young Wagner man has pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter.

The Class C felony is related to the 2023 stabbing death of a 16-year-old.

The guilty plea came Friday morning in Charles Mix County Circuit Court.

Gabe Montgomery, 16, will be sentenced on January 31, 2025.

The agencies that investigated the case were the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Wagner Police Department.

The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office and the Charles Mix County State’s Attorney’s Office are prosecuting the case.
