The Warren County Board of Supervisors at its regular meeting Monday considered topics ranging from the LeTourneau boat ramp to the new Riverfront Park project and utilities connected to the new Warren County Jail.

The board unanimously approved the winning bid for the LeTourneau Landing boat ramp improvements, which totaled $474,138.54 and was awarded to Maynord Landscaping. The ramp is currently inaccessible during low water conditions.

County Engineer Keith O’Keefe said the improvements will include a dredging operation to remove silt that has built up on top of the ramp over the years, as well as laying new concrete structures. The contractual term for the project is 90 days.

The council also approved a motion to advertise construction improvements at the soon-to-be-built Riverfront Park.

“The general plan includes a covered stage area and then a deck area for people to bring lounge chairs and blankets and that kind of thing to sit on and watch the entertainment and have community events there,” O’Keefe said. “We’ll also have a restroom and a concession stand area, and then we’ll have a children’s playground.”

O’Keefe said there will also be a lighted walking track and exercise areas. The project will be auctioned in December.

The new park will be built on five and a half acres of land donated by the Golding family to Golding Barge Lines. The park is meant to replace the original Riverfront Park, which was closed in 2022 due to erosion problems.

In other business, the board:

  • Two motions to sign interlocal agreements regarding the new Warren County Jail were approved. One agreement was for Culkin Water to provide maintenance and water services to the new prison. The other agreement was for the city of Vicksburg to provide sewer services and maintenance of the facility.
  • Approved advertising for Warren County Administrator position. The current administrator, Loretta Brantley, will retire effective October 31.
