Charlamagne Tha God and Anderson Cooper questioned the network’s coverage of Donald Trump Vs. Kamala Harris

Charlamagne Tha God and Anderson Cooper used expletives at times as they engaged in a spirited debate over how CNN and other networks covered Donald Trump vis-a-vis Kamala Harris.

On AC 360 On Thursday, Cooper pointed out that when it comes to Trump, “like him, hate him, he … showed us who he is every day.”

“Which is a fascist and it’s crazy because you still don’t have news networks having this conversation,” Charlamagne, host of the popular iHeartRadio radio show The Breakfast Clubhe answered.

He added that “When someone questions Kamala Harris’s blackness or DEI being hired, you’re all going to have roundtable discussions about it, asking that question. How come you don’t have roundtable discussions asking yourself, “Is Donald Trump a fascist?” In fact, I don’t even ask it, it doesn’t even state it.”

Cooper, however, noted that Charlamagne “talked about it with Kamala Harris, about her own authenticity, about her own willingness to just say things that aren’t made up. Do you think they need to do more of that?” He noted that Trump is appearing on Joe Rogan and asked if Harris should do the same.

“I think they should call Donald Trump a fascist, and I think Americans need to keep looking at Donald Trump’s rhetoric because I don’t even know why we’re even thinking about electing someone who talks about putting people in camps. I don’t know what we’re talking about or why we want to elect someone who talks about mass deportation. I don’t know why we’re having this conversation about someone who wants to end the Constitution, overturn the election results. Shouldn’t we be a patriotic country? When someone like Colin Kaepernick kneels in this country, everybody talks about, “Oh, that’s so unpatriotic.” But a guy can say he wants to end the Constitution, overturn the election results, and nobody cares. Even though I brought it up now, you brought it back to Kamala Harris and Joe Rogan, Anderson, who cares.”

In an appearance before the National Association of Black Journalists last summer, Trump questioned Harris’ identification as black, suggesting it was only recent and for political gain. She is of mixed race, but has long identified as black.

Later, when Charlamagne said he thought he’d “heard more on this network about ‘Is Kamala Harris Black?’ than “Donald Trump being a fascist,” Cooper said the notion was “bullshit…”. He took issue with the network presenting expert panels on whether Harris “was black.”

“They’re bulls… Anderson.” To say you never had those discussions,” Charlamagne responded.

“I’ve never asked anybody … I don’t think any anchor on this network is going around saying, ‘Is she black?'”

At the CNN town hall, Cooper asked Harris if he thought Trump was a fascist, and he said yes. Trump’s former chief of staff, John Kelly, had said The New York Times that Trump met the definition of a fascist.
