The lawsuit seeks class action status following the Givaudan factory explosion

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A lawsuit seeks class action status over the Givaudan plant explosion.

Charles Fowler said he was driving to DoorDash when the explosion happened, sending shock waves through his car and triggering his PTSD from his military service in Iraq. He said he suffered lost wages and sought medical treatment for PTSD.

The lawsuit alleges that Givaudan was warned days before the explosion by employees that Cooker #6 was overheating, was not properly ventilated, and was at risk of exploding. The lawsuit accuses Givaudan of failing to act and not following industry standards for safety protocols.

Two employees were killed and 11 others were injured in the blast. Homes and cars around the Clifton neighborhood also suffered damage.

In addition to seeking class action status, the lawsuit also seeks damages for property damages, medical bills, lost earnings and legal costs.
