Security plan after Lincolnshire Archives staff face violence

Lincolnshire Archives is seeking better security measures after staff reported facing violence and threats when arriving and leaving offices.

A planning application for the site on St Rumbold Street, near Lincoln city centre, said there had been an increase in anti-social behavior around the building, including signs of suspected drug use.

It highlights parking and people blocking fire escapes as problem areas.

The county council wants to install fences, automatic parking gates and security shutters.

The planning application said workers faced “threatening behaviour, altercations and even injury” while using the Rosemary Lane car park entrance early in the morning and late at night.

The document said staff suffered abuse when they had to leave their cars to lock or unlock the gate.
