It is aimed at ensuring that the maximum number of employers and employees benefit from the Employment Incentive Scheme (ELI) announced in the Union Budget 2024-2025.

“Employers are required to complete the UAN activation process through Aadhaar-based OTP for all their employees joining in the current financial year by November 30, 2024, starting with the latest employees,” the Ministry of Labor and Employment said Work in a release.

He said UAN activation provides employees with seamless access to EPFO’s comprehensive online services, enabling them to efficiently manage their Provident Fund (PF) accounts, view and download PF passbooks, submit online applications for withdrawals, advances or transfers, update personal details and track requests in real time. This allows employees 24/7 access to EPFO ​​services from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need for physical visits to EPFO ​​offices.

How to Activate UAN Using Aadhaar Based OTP: A Step-by-Step Guide

1) Go to EPFO ​​Member Portal.

2) Click on “Activate UAN” link under “Important Links”.

3) Enter your UAN, Aadhaar number, name, date of birth and Aadhaar linked mobile number.

4) Employees should ensure that their mobile number is linked with Aadhaar to access the full range of digital services of EPFO

5) You agree to Aadhaar OTP verification.

6) Click on “Get Authorization PIN” to receive an OTP on your number. of Aadhaar linked mobile phone.

7) Enter the OTP to complete the activation

8) A password will be sent to your number. registered mobile phone number after successful activation.

Further, UAN activation will include the next-generation facility of biometric authentication, through facial recognition technology, the ministry said.

“Using Aadhaar as an identity document streamlines government delivery processes, improves transparency and efficiency, and ensures that beneficiaries receive their entitlements seamlessly. Aadhaar-based verification eliminates the need to produce multiple documents to prove one’s identity,” the labor ministry said.
