FORT SMITH — Fort Smith police are investigating after they say one person was injured in an attempted robbery.

The incident occurred at a residence in the 3300 block of North 27th Street, according to a news release from the Fort Smith Police Department.

The victim was meeting with several people in connection with the sale of a personal item, police said in a statement Wednesday evening.

“The situation escalated,” according to police, and the victim received a non-life-threatening injury.

Police said it appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public. No arrests have been made.
