A 15-year-old boy slashed the throat of a classmate at school in Pune over a petty dispute

A class nine student brutally slashed his classmate’s throat with a broken piece of glass in the school campus in Manjari following a heated exchange of words related to the annual day.

The 15-year-old came from behind the victim and inflicted a sharp wound on the latter’s neck, causing her to bleed. The incident occurred on November 19, and the first information report was filed on November 20. Assistant Inspector and Investigating Officer Dadasaheb Rokade said the minor was detained and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), which sent him to observation home till November. 30.

The fourteen-year-old victim, in his complaint to the Hadapsar police under section 351 (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) stated that there was a verbal duel between them during the annual daily function and his classmate retaliated. When the applicant was sitting in the classroom, the minor came from behind and attacked him with a piece of broken glass on the right side of his neck, leaving him injured.

According to the police, the students were preparing for the annual festivities and presented their art sketches during the function. There was a dispute between the duo which was settled amicably. However, it later escalated into a violent attack.

“The class was over and it was just the two of them in the room when the incident happened. On hearing the scream, the school staff including the teachers rushed to the classroom and rescued the victim. He was rushed to a hospital,” Rokade said.
