Illinois Supreme Court rules Sun-Times must face defamation suit

The Illinois Supreme Court issued nearly a dozen opinions Thursday, including a ruling challenging the interpretation of the Illinois Citizen Participation Act in a defamation lawsuit against the Chicago Sun-Times and one of its reporters over articles about a former head of the state agency. The high court also ruled on a Cook County fuel tax ordinance as it applies to “intangible interests” and considered an attempt to invalidate an intergovernmental agreement for the alleged violation.
