Domestic Violence Intervention announces the appointment of Carin Anne Gomes as its new local executive director.

DVI is dedicated to providing comprehensive support and services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Churchill and Lyon counties.

After 26 years, Karen Moessner has retired from DVI. Ever the advocate for those in need of shelter and services, Moessner made sure a smooth transition would be implemented as she and Gomes work together over the next few weeks.

“Leaving this job is bittersweet for me,” Moessner said. “Being part of the movement is part of me. I have met so many strong women who are survivors, advocates and advocates and I am so grateful for the experience.”

Gomes has deep roots in Fallon and is dedicated to breaking the cycle of violence and sharing.

“Every individual deserves dignity and respect,” she said. “Their perspective matters and I am committed to helping clients where they are in their lives.”

Gomes said the core of her work is to have a positive, lasting impact on the health and safety of local communities.

“By improving the home environment, I believe we can create a ripple effect that improves the lives of families and individuals in our community,” Gomes said.

Gomes said he looks forward to building on existing relationships and creating new partnerships to further the agency’s mission to empower individuals to lead violence-free lives by promoting a safe and nurturing environment for all individuals and families.
