Mother accused of killing 14-year-old daughter by holding her head under water in the bathtub

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. (WESH) – A Florida mother is facing charges after deputies say she killed her 14-year-old daughter by holding her head under water in a bathtub.

Deputies from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Poinciana family’s home on Wednesday. They say they found the mother, Kelsey Glover, 35, chasing witnesses with a hammer and had to pry it away.

“When the officers get there, they actually wrestle a sledgehammer away from her and she tries to hit the lady who is trying to stop her from harming her daughter. It was just something we caught in the act and God only knows where it was going to go if we didn’t get there in time and kick the door in,” said Sheriff Mark Lopez.

Deputies found Glover’s daughter, Giselle Glover, 14, unresponsive in the bathtub. She was taken to hospital but did not survive.

Lopez says witnesses told deputies they saw Glover holding her daughter’s head under water in the bathtub. They tried to stop it but failed.

Glover is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery. Lopez says once the exact cause of death for Giselle is determined, more charges could be added.

“What happened to her is unimaginable and we are determined to get justice for Giselle,” Lopez said.

The sheriff described Glover as uncooperative and said they do not yet have a motive. The mother has no criminal record.
