Aaron Judge already has Yankees fans freaking out about the World Series failure

The lights don’t get any brighter than in the World Series. They illuminate the greatness of some players. They blind others. New York Yankees fans are already worried. Aaron Judge is one of the latter.

Judge didn’t have a great postseason. He entered the World Series batting .161/.317/.387. His first at-bats in Game 1 didn’t suggest he was ready to heat up in the biggest moment.

In the first inning, Judge struck out swinging on four pitches. He came back in the third inning and struck out five again. Would the third time be the charm? Judge came to the plate in the sixth inning and showed much more patience. He even went into a 2-0 count. He still managed to swing for the third time. So no, no charm there.

Yankees fans were quick to judge Judge, who has yet to really find a postseason groove.

Twitter loves its jokes, and there were plenty of them Friday night.

Jokes aside, fans on Twitter had serious observations and questions for Judge.

It doesn’t help Judge’s perception that his teammate Giancarlo Stanton is coming to life in October the way he is. After Judge’s third strikeout, Stanton hit a two-run home run to put the Yankees up 2-1.

Stanton had 18 home runs in the postseason in 37 plate appearances. Judge has 15 postseason home runs in 54.

The Yankees have every reason to be happy with what they got from Stanton this postseason. When it comes to winning the World Series, however, New York needs Judge to show up, too.

A player’s postseason legacy isn’t locked in three games after Game 1. Judge will have more opportunities to show he can shine when the Yankees need him most. Eventually, those opportunities will run out. For now, those fans are still waiting.
